Our Board of Directors is elected at the end of each calendar year in December.

Four Directors are in charge of their respective departments while the Executive Director oversees all operations and functioning of UMass EMS.

Executive Director

Elsa Cranson

Elsa Cranson is a rising senior at UMass Amherst. She joined UMEMS in the spring semester of her freshman year. Outside of UMEMS, Elsa works on an ambulance for Coastal Medical Transportation in her hometown. Elsa is pursuing a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Commonwealth Honors College, and is involved in the Habitat for Humanity club and the UMass Symphony Band on campus. In her free time, Elsa enjoys reading, playing music and spending time outdoors.

Director of Operations

Nick Fox

Nicholas Fox is a rising senior at UMass Amherst. He joined UMEMS in the fall semester of his freshman year. Outside of UMEMS, Nick works on an ambulance for Cataldo Ambulance in the greater Boston area. Nick is pursuing a degree in Biology with a minor in Natural Resource Conservation within the Commonwealth Honors College. He is also heavily involved with World Librarians on campus. In his free time, Nick loves to spend time with friends and family while staying active and playing sports.

Director of Training

Anna Ilyin

Anna Ilyin is a rising junior at UMass Amherst, majoring in Microbiology on the pre-med track. She is part of the Commonwealth Honors College and joined UMEMS in the spring semester of her freshman year. When she’s not at school, she works at Trinity EMS in Lowell. Anna is also director of the Housing Justice and Affordability Project on campus. Outside of school and work, she loves being at the beach, swimming, and spending time with her friends.

Sarrah Cherawala

Sarrah Cherawala is a rising junior at UMass Amherst, majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She is a part of the Commonwealth Honors College and joined UMEMS in the spring semester of her freshman year. When she is not at school, she works for Action Ambulance Service in Wilmington, MA. Sarrah is also the Vice President of Philanthropy for the Student Alumni Association and is involved in the Boltwood Project.

Director of Administration

Sarah Greco

Sarah Greco is a rising senior at UMass Amherst. She joined UMEMS in the spring semester of her sophomore year. Outside of UMEMS, Sarah works on an ambulance for Cataldo Ambulance just outside of her hometown in Western MA. Sarah is pursuing a degree in Kinesiology, and is involved in the Pre-Physician Assistant Club and Kinesiology Club. In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, and staying active.

EMS Coordinator

Dominic Singh has been an active EMS provider for 25 years, the last 21 at the paramedic level. He has worked for a variety of collegiate, private, fire based, and non-profit EMS agencies throughout Massachusetts. He still works actively for both the Amherst Fire Department as a firefighter/paramedic and Spencer EMS as their Chief of Operations. He was hired as the first dedicated EMS Coordinator to UMass Amherst EMS in May of 2013. A regular lecturer at the annual National Collegiate EMS Foundation conference, Mr. Singh teaches a variety of EMS continuing education topics and is lead instructor for the on-campus EMT initial training program.
